Firstly, it was really weird to stop by my own gallery and have 410 messages, lol. Thanks alot for a second daily deviation! But on an older piece? Tres bizarre! Thanks all the same. :>
It's really kind of interesting that one of my images containing the most amount of published thought on the Thevat world was made a DD... I've been mulling over some more ideas about Kestrel's world for the past few months, but my classes have been so utterly and inhumanely brutal on me I haven't had much time to do anything :\ .... Basically, I've started writing an illustrated novel in my head. Here's some of my newer thoughts:
"Kestrel's world has been fleshed out with a bigger map, more characters, protagonists, and antagonists. Kestrel's people live on a set of temperate-climate islands which are all very small, a few miles across. They dwell mostly around the pale-sanded beaches and amongst the trees in the inland forest. They are a simple but sophisticated people, curious and social, spending their time honing their relationships with their gods, improving their method of life, and entertaining themselves through philosophy, literature, magic, and the arts.
However, all will not remain at peace. Farther up north lies a mountainous, ruthless landscape, inhabited by a much inhospitable race of hooved creatures. Bulky and relatively hostile-looking, this race of beast is tormented by a lust for combat and destruction. They worship a heretic that proclaims there exists a god that rewards them for the slaying of other lesser creatures.. Of course, their race lies at the pinnacle. Led by a grotesque and ruthless king, they have pounded their way through the mountain region, and have begun a hostile takeover of all surrounding lands. Unbeknownst to the Thevats, whom are silently enjoying their small island paradise, trouble looms above them..."
I started working a job at the local gamers here in Ames (

During lulls in work, I have been scratching out sketches of Kestrel wearing light battle-armor, along with a few small, concealed weapons, such as dirks and throwing knives, along with her staff. I will be posting up a few more images that illustrate my ideas, and pretty soon, I want to start making full page images that correspond to small chapters in a written story with chronological events.
